Twitter Is Still At It

Against my better judgement, I’ve started using Twitter again; I just couldn’t find the same community of pixel artists anywhere else online. After spending a day heavily curating my timeline, I was quite content back on that godforsaken platform. My timing has clearly been outstanding, as just this week the pixel art community I missed so much took a massive hit - there are no more Brazilians on Twitter.

The story behind Brazil’s decision to ban Twitter started back in April, and can be summarized as “Twitter was breaking Brazilian disinformation laws.” If you want more details, here’s a not-too-long BBC article explaining it. What I care about is the devastating loss to the art community there, who had just a week earlier given us a blessing and one of the biggest art trends of this year. I present to you: Brazilian Miku.

In mid-August, thecat_mitsu redrew popular vocaloid singer Hatsune Miku as Brazilian, which started an incredible trend of artists redrawing Miku as a person from their country/community. Some I’d like to highlight are Kosovo Miku, Bangladeshi Miku, and Nigerian Miku. I recommend looking at the the quotes and replies on the original viral post to see some really cool art, including Miku getting arrested at border control. Obviously I had to join in on this great trend, so I present my hastily drawn Palestinian Miku:

My Immortal Editing Completed

Back in June, some streamer friends and I read the all of the World’s Worst Fanction (My Immortal) to help raise money for a friend’s gender affirming care. After two months of intense editing effort, I’ve finally condensed over 15 hours of stream into one 3 hour video. Feel free to fall asleep to it and have the weirdest dreams of your life. Heads up, it is weirdly 18+, so maybe use headphones.

SkyShenMusic is a wonderful musician who has been a long time enabler of mine (i.e. he tells me to buy bubble tea every time we talk).
