NES Peach Redraw Challenge

The pixel art community on Twitter is the only thing that made me go back to that hellsite, and I have no regrets. This month Twitter’s pixel artists proved just how far pixel art as a medium has come with a redraw challenge: remake the 1985 Princess Peach.

My version is below, but first I’d like to highlight a couple of my favourite redraws. These are all using the same resolution and palette, and are a great comparison between pixel art as utility (need something princess looking) vs pixel art as art (check out this pretty princess). Please check out these three amazing pieces: Metaru, BlazingFire, and Crea.

I don’t usually work in such small resolutions, so this was great practice for me! Here’s my own little redraw:

Speedrunning Crafting Mama

I’ve always appreciated speedrunning, but never had enough confidence to try it out. However, I recently learned about the Cooking Mama spinoff Crafting Mama. While playing it on stream I realized it would be incredibly funny if I took the number one speedrunning slot on the game since its kinda still crafting. So I’d just be a crafting streamer with a little trophy.

Since nobody cares about this game the competition for first place was almost none, but I gave it my all regardless and can now proudly represent Palestine on the leader board. Or something like that. idk I’m having a great time with this. More to come.

Community Shoutout - ACraftyJellyfish

Jelly is an excellent crafting streamer and all around creator! She makes outstanding animations using embroidery, and very intricate cosplays. She’s also a great and inspiring artist, and we are all so proud of her becoming a Twitch partner recently. If you have never checked out her work (mostly on Twitch), I can’t recommend it enough!
